This Member fav Bordeaux hasn’t missed a beat! It’s a fresh new vintage that delivers of smooth and robust classically styled Bordeaux Supérieur. Every year we wrangle as much as we can away from the good folks at Château Clou du Pin (hoping they don’t change their mind on the pricing). And every year our Members buy it down to the very last drop in the blink of an eye.

Now AND Later drinkability is rare treat from this area of the world. The under-wraps Bordeaux Supérieur appellation is made in small, single parcels of older vines. The wines, by law, must be aged for 12 months before they hit the market. Making them some of the best value bottles to age for a bit before enjoying. Perfect for the Bordeaux lover who doesn’t feel the need to pay Classified Growth prices.

Irrepressibly 2015 in style, this new vintage from Clou du Pin makes a good case for classically elegant Bordeaux. Largely considered the best vintage since 2010, the 2015 wines kept the promise from the mild spring and dry, warm growing season. Such a stunning growing season ensures that if you love complexity, depth, and length in superior quantity, this Supérieur bottle delivers.
Timeless takes on a new meaning.  Château Clou du Pin releases vintage after vintage of Bordeaux’s best prices. Since 1950, the famed vineyards of Gensac, a stone’s throw from the illustrious St. Émilion, have offered up stunning examples of the ruby heaven for which the region is known. The clay and chalk- rich soils of the zone translate to wines of silky softness but also power and incredible complexity.

The nose shows a whiff of graphite and some rich black cherry fruit. Very supple and nicely fruit-driven in the mouth. The wine is balanced and round, extremely drinkable.

AOC wines are under strict controls in the vineyard, cellar and geographic delimitations. An appellation d’origine contrôlée wine is also blind tasted by wine professionals to judge its “typicity,” taking into consideration the varietals, soil, climate and vintage before it can get the coveted AOC label.

Our Tasting Panel recommends pairing this Bordeaux red with everything from simply prepared steaks on the grill to a rotisserie chicken brought straight from the grocery.
