We’re crazy for this Chianti! The classic and beautiful 2013 vintage, some very special treatment, and the skilled expertise of the Olivi Le Buche winemakers combine to make this a superior bottle of Superiore. It’s all enough to give us a Superiore-ty complex!

Why we love it:

  • Superiore in every way: Superiore…you can just taste the difference. A step up from your everyday dinner Chianti, Olivi hand picks Sangiovese and Merlot, vinifies them separately and ages the wines in oak for 5 months before creating the final blend. Selected from the best barrels, the final blend rests in bottle for 4 months before its release. All this special treatment has us wondering if we can be so pampered...
  • Wild and Wonderful: Le Buche’s neatly woven vineyards, reminiscent of modern art, sit amid an untamed wilderness. The oak and broom across the hillsides bristle with wild boar, deer, and porcupines. And this Tuscan family knows that good Sangiovese, like good olives and more than few people, feed on stress. Personally, we prefer to feed to wild boar ragu and gnocchi… so it’s a win-win!
  • No imitations please: Winemakers in Chianti suspected they were onto something good when neighboring rivals started imitating their wine. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, the Duke of Tuscany wasn’t impressed. He issued a decree in the 18th century declaring the delicious Chianti wine a product of the Chianti area (and nowhere else). It was the first wine appellation that was legally enforceable.

This ruby red glassful is fragrant with spicy aromas and red berries. Your first sip (and all the ones that follow) frames those spiced raspberries in supple tannins that lead to a soft, lingering finish.

From an early age I have always felt a strong connection to the land so much that, in 1986, I decided to buy La Sovana, I left my a previously ctivitie carried out with my brother Mauro and I decided to create this Farm with my wife Giovannella. With the success of this new activitie I bought the farm “Le Buche” , only 4 kilometers from La Sovana I created a 2-hectare vineyard and, with my son Riccardo, we decided to undertake a new wine project is also supported by the fact that the our customers were lovers of good Tuscan wine and good food.

Go wild with your beefy ragu over pasta, barbequed chicken, or cheese tortellini with chunky marinara sauce!

Wine Reviews

I hope you’re ready for a classic, this is traditional winemaking at its best.  The wine presents with a nose that is just as much oak and cedar as it is ripe berries and plum, with a delicate influence of sweet violet and lavender.  The palate is fresh and lively with a powerful acidity and firm structure, but the texture is supple and smooth.  Blackberry, plum and blackcurrant mingle on the palate with dried rose petals and a hint of baking spice.  Drink now through 2020. - DZ Mar 2017
