2010 Domaine Joseph Roty Bourgogne Cuvee Pressonnier
Joseph Roty has one of the largest cult followings of any small grower and has produced some of the most exquisite wines of Burgundy. His family have been producing wine since the time of Louis XIV, a staggering eleven generations since 1710.
Obviously we really dig this Bourgogne price for a wine that tastes like it should be Gevrey-Chambertin! Red-fruited: cranberry & cherry not sweet; pretty impressive concentration of fruit that is drinking superb. Medium oak with powerful body that surprises the palate. We can't stop talking about this around the office!
Pinot Noir does whatever it wants. It’s one of the more difficult grapes to grow due to its thin skins and susceptibility to disease, but that’s never stopped winemakers across the world. If coming from a cooler climate, like its home land of Burgundy, the acid is racing and balanced, typically, with oak aging. On the contrary, in warmer climates, bright red fruit is the name of the game. All are solid options and we’re continually impressed by new expressions of this world-famous red grape.
