'Very Good' -Wine Enthusiast | 90+ Pedigree

Bodegas Tamaral’s 2013 Ribera del Duero Crianza was awarded 'Very Good' from Wine Enthusiast, yet another notch in their belt as these relative newcomers continue to make a name for themselves in the international arena.

  • Made with the Tinto Fino grape, which is a strain of Tempranillo, this bottle is only furthering our love of Tempranillo generally, and Ribera del Duero specifically.
  • The vineyards lie at over 900 meters above sea level in the famous subregion of Pesquera del Duero, a name practically synonymous with the finest Spanish wine.
  • Dusty berry, resin, and bell-pepper notes are showing us a wine that is big, rich, and bold now, with the potential to ripen further well into the next decade.
  • With Fall ahead, we’re putting away some to pair later with the seasons classic big, rich, braised dishes.

This wine is juicy on the palate. Contains raspberry, blueberry, black currant, spicy plum, and vanilla flavors.

From the winery:

When Bodegas y Viñedos Tamaral was founded in April 1997, it was a dream come true for the De Santiago family, who for four generations have tended vineyards and made wine. Soon afterwards, a winery was opened in the Pago de Tablares under the watchful eye of the Museo de Vino and in the very heart of the Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin.

Very shortly after the harvest of that year, the wine-making process started and our very first wine was victorious in the young wine category of the 8th National wine-tasting competition, the 'Premios Zarcillo'. It was also awarded other national as well as international prizes including the 'Premios Bacchus', demonstrating how highly our wines were regarded.

These awards act as an incentive for us to keep on improving, and we believe that our wines are still getting better year on year as the combination of the highest technology and the most traditional methods help us to achieve the quality we aspire to.

Our constant efforts towards improvement have led us to more awards; 67 international prizes to date, yet, undoubtedly the best reward for the whole team at Bodegas y Viñedos Tamaral is knowing that our customers have the chance to enjoy our intense full-bodied wines, making us even more determined to carry through this exciting project.

This is an excellent wine to pair with grilled meat or spicier dishes, stews  and cured cheeses.

Wine Reviews

Bright cherry and leather on the nose. Medium bodied with tones of dark chocolate, blueberry, cranberry, cinnamon stick and clove. Earthy qualities through a medium finish. An excellent choice for any Tempranillo lover. Drinking now through 2020. 93 Points - JZ July '18

"Dusty berry, resin and bell-pepper aromas suggest a marginally ripe wine with plenty of oak. A raw punchy choppy mouth feel and woody spicy plum and berry flavors are good but not very deep or evolved. A finish with hard tannins is par for the course."-Wine Enthusiast
